At Acupuncture Therapeutics of Wake Forest, Dr. Rose Mulhearn can examine and diagnose in a more comprehensive western style than other acupuncturists. Ca-trained acupuncturists are primary care providers in the medical world: this ranks them below medical doctors, but above physician assistants, nurses, and nurse practitioners in a medical setting. Therefore, she is medically and legally responsible for identifying and treating all medical conditions, and to direct patient care appropriately. “As an acupuncturist, I can’t just say someone’s qi is blocked and call it a day.”

Dr. Mulhearn’s patients can use acupuncture with western treatments at the same time, and she can effectively communicate with your doctors to coordinate your care.

Gua Sha

Dr. Mulhearn specializes in a specific friction massage known as Gua Sha. She has spent many years perfecting this technique to relieve the inflammation and pain of injuries both chronic and new.  Much of her patient treatment time will be with her hands in contact with patients, combining cupping and gua sha and massage to treat them. We feel strongly that one cannot understand a patient’s injury without good inspection and palpation.
